Financial Assistance
NUS High School supports financially needy students with an array of financial assistance schemes. They include Ministry of Education (MOE) Independent Schools Bursary (ISB), school-based financial assistance, scholarships, study awards, and bursaries from various self-help groups and external organizations. These are available to uplift our needy students so that our students do not face resource constraints in their pursuit of academic excellence in NUS High School.

Ministry of Education (MOE) Independent School Bursary (ISB)
The Ministry of Education provides financial assistance to needy Singapore Citizen pupils so that all Singaporeans, regardless of their financial background, can benefit from the best opportunities in education. It also provides subsidy for school fees to Singapore Citizen pupils from lower and middle income families in Independent Schools.
The MOE ISB scheme offers tiered school fee subsidies ranging from 33% to 100% to Singaporean pupils, whose families meet the income criteria shown in the table below.
Details:
1. Eligibility Criteria - A pupil is a Singapore Citizen, and meets the GHI or PCI criterion.
2. Tenure of Bursary - All ISB approved cases will be valid till December of the year. Fresh applications will have to be submitted for each academic year.
3. Effective Month – Pupils can apply any time of the year. It will take effect in the month the application is approved. There will be no backdating of effective month.

NUS High School Core module school notes will be subsidised according to approved ISB tier (Only applicable to approved cases in January). |
1.Include specialised independent schools, namely, NUS High School of Math and Science and School of Science and Technology. Does not include Singapore Sports School and School of Art which have their own schemes to provide financial assistance for their students. Please refer to the school’s website for information on their financial assistance schemes.
2.PCI = Monthly GHI / No. of members in the same household.
3.Applicable only to Singapore Citizen students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Government-funded schools. Exam fees for GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels are waived for all Singapore citizens in Government-funded schools.
4.The public transport subsidy will only be provided from the effective month of the MOE ISB till December of the year.
5.GGAS fee comprises school fee and miscellaneous fee payable by Singapore Citizen students in a GGAS.
6.With effect from 1 January 2024
Pupils who wish to apply for ISB are to submit the application form together with relevant documents. The School will inform pupils on the outcome of their applications.
UPLIFT Scholarship
With effect from 1 April 2019, MOE has introduced the UPLIFT Scholarship to recognise the achievements of students in Independent Schools who have performed well academically or in specific talents areas and are from lower-income families.

Temasek Foundation Study Award for STEM
Temasek Foundation Study Award for STEM may be given to NUS High School students who received school fees subsidy under the tier 1 & 2 MOE Independent School Bursary (ISB) scheme at Tier 1 and Tier 2.
Besides the school fees subsidy under the MOE ISB scheme, NUS High School provides additional financial assistance to needy Singapore Citizen pupils so that all Singaporeans, regardless of their financial background, can benefit from the best opportunities in education.
