NUS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS


The NUS High School scholarships are awarded to outstanding NUS High School students who have great passion, talent and achievements in mathematics and/or science, i.e. students who demonstrate peaks of excellence.

EDUSAVE SCHOLARSHIPS


If a pupil is a Singapore citizen, he/she can benefit from Edusave in the following ways:


1. Edusave Merit Bursary (EMB)
The Edusave Merit Bursary is meant for pupils whose gross household income is less than $5,000 a month, or per capita income less than $1,250. If a pupil is not a recipient of any Edusave Scholarship and is within the top 25% of his/her level, he/she will be eligible for the EMB.

The value of this award for each level is as follows:

  • $350 for Year 1 to 4
  • $400 for Year 5 to 6
The selection of students for these awards is done by the school yearly, based on their current year results. No application is needed.


2. Edusave Good Progress Award (GPA)
If a pupil has made significant improvement in his/her academic performance, he/she is eligible for the Good Progress Award. The pupil must not be a holder of any Edusave Scholarship or Edusave Merit Bursary. The award is given based on the extent of the pupil's improvement in the school’s year-end examinations over the previous year.

The awards are given to a maximum of 10% of pupils in each level in the school. Pupils will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year if he/she meets the criteria. No application is needed.

The value of the awards is as follows:

  • $200 for Year 1 to 4
  • $250 for Year 5 to 6


3. Edusave Awards for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES)

If a pupil shows good leadership, service to community and schools, or excels in non-academic activities, he/she is eligible for the Edusave Award for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service. The award is given based on his/her achievement in co-curricular activities and contribution to community services over a one-year period.
The awards are given to a maximum of 10% of pupils in each level in the school. The pupil will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year, if he/she meets the criteria. No application is needed.

The value of the awards is as follows:

  • $350 for Year 1 to 4
  • $400 for Year 5 to 6


4. Edusave Character Awards (ECHA)

The Edusave Character Award is given out to recognize pupils for demonstrating exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behavior and actions. The pupil will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year if he/she meets the criteria. The awards are given to 2% of Singaporean pupils in the school.

The value of the award is as follows:

  • $500 for Year 1 to 6


EDUSAVE AWARDS


Ministry of Education has introduced the Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools (ESIS), which will replace the following scholarships previously available to students of an Independent School (IS).
  • Edusave Entrance Scholarships for Independent Schools (EESIS)
  • Edusave Scholarships for Integrated Programme Schools (ESIP)
  • Edusave (Independent Schools) Yearly Award [E(IS)YA]

ESIS is only applicable to students who are Singapore Citizens.

Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools (ESIS) (Year 1)

Eligibility
The ESIS are awarded to Singaporean students who are in the top one-third of the total number of Secondary 1 students admitted to all IS, based on PSLE results.

It is also awarded to Primary 6 Gifted Education Programme (GEP) Singaporean students who meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria and are enrolled in the Integrated Programme (IP) of an IS at S1.

Award Quantum
The ESIS award quantumis $2,400, or the annual school fees charged by the IS, less the annual amount of school and standard miscellaneous fees paid by students in government/ government-aided schools, whichever is lower.

Tenure
The tenure of the scholarship is 6 years for students on the 6-year programme. The scholar must make good progress each year and have good conduct in order to continue receiving the scholarship.

Application and Award Process
Upon the release of the PSLE results, students eligible for the ESIS will be informed. No application is required. Eligible students will be offered the ESIS if they are admitted to an IS and met the eligibility criteria stated in Para 2.

Upon the release of the school posting results in December, students can check whether they have been offered the ESIS via the Sec 1 Internet System (S1-IS).

Students who are admitted to IS under the Direct School Admission Exercise will also be offered the ESIS if they met the eligibility criteria stated in Para 2.

        • ESIS (Year 3)
        • ESIS (Year 5)
        • ESIS (Yearly Award)
