Track & Field

Established in 2006 with only 14 athletes, the NUS High School Track & Field Team has grown to a current membership size of more than 30 athletes from Year 1 to Year 6.

What we do

The Team aims to develop each individual athlete to his/her fullest potential according to his/her area of interest. The teacher-in-charge, Mr Fan Kai Ming, assisted by Mr Alex Kwee, works closely with the coaches, former national runner Mr Hosni and Javelin specialist Mr Akid, to provide a holistic training environment to develop the athletes both physically and mentally.

The Team participates in various running events while the Field Team specialises in Javelin. The Team compete in various events organised by the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA). These include the SAA Track & Field Series and the Singapore Junior Athletic Championships. The teams also compete in National Inter-schools events, such as the National Inter-schools Track and Field Championships.

Above all, attributes such as perseverance, sportsmanship and teamwork are essential qualities that our athletes will pick up through training, competitions, training camps and service-learning projects.

Training

Track Events
Mondays and Fridays: 4-6 pm

Field Events
Tuesday 3-5 pm

Depending on the area of specialty, our athletes train all 3 energy systems up to varying levels of intensity. Strength workouts are incorporated to improve endurance and explosive power. During competition season, members are encouraged to do additional trainings on their own, following individualized training programs set by the coach. Training camps are usually held in the holidays.

Who we need

You do not have to be able to run very fast or throw very far to join us. So long as you have an open mind, a passion for movement and improving your limits, we want you.
