High School Choir

The NUS High School Choir (The High School Choir) is a group of united students who work hard, have fun and learn to sing together. It welcomes anybody who loves to sing. The members have improved their vocal quality and choral techniques gradually yet steadily with our external conductor Ms Lim Huimin over the last four years.

The High School Choir’s repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, and from English and French songs, Chinese, Tamil to Japanese songs.

The choir won Bronze Award in Singapore Youth Festival 2011 (JC category) with three a-cappella songs. In 2014, the choir participated in the inaugural Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) and achieved Silver in the 25 year old and below category.

The High School Choir has been performing in various school events such as Chinese New Year concert, Speech Day, National Day Celebration, Assembly Program and Performing Arts Combined Concert.  The Choir has also taken part in community involvement projects by visiting a day care service centre for the elderly and a child care centre and performing for the members.  In 2012 and 2013, the Choir performed at Ngee Ang City in Orchard Road for a public event called Music In The City.

Through exposure to such events and the school’s Aesthetic Appreciation Program in which the Choir is actively involved , the High School Choir hopes to contribute to a lifelong appreciation of the vocal music in the school community and to make singing a part of the school’s culture. The members would also like to share the joy of singing and to contribute to the community.
