Special Programmes

Da Vinci
Programme

NUSHS Research, Innovation and Enterprise
- The programme aims to nurture creative minds and develop skilled hands backed with deep knowledge.

- In the lower years, students are trained to polish their presentation, technical and creative thinking skills.

- Students are exposed to formal scientific literature and current research topics.

- In the senior years, students have to embark on compulsory Advanced Research Projects in the domains of math, science or engineering as individuals or up to groups of threes. They are either mentored by our own teachers, or by researchers from universities and research institutions.
Galileo
Programme

NUSHS Space Engineering
- The programme introduces selected students to the complexities involved in engineering a space satellite system with flight control, power management, signalling processing and communications capabilities.

- It gives students the first exposure on the issues that are typically faced by engineers when they design and build a system which can be deployed into space.

- One of the goals of the programme is to co-develop and launch a nano-satellite.

EINSTEIN+
Programme

NUSHS Talent Development Programme
- The programme identifies students with exceptional talent and stretches them to their fullest potential.

- Students can read university modules offered by NUS, the Digipen, Institute of Technology, Singapore and the Singapore Management University

- Selected students take part in the Overseas Student Academic Programme such as to CERN for particle physics & XLAB for neurophysiology

- The Distinguished Visitors’ Programme brings in eminent scientists and mathematicians annually, to inspire our students through talks and fire-side chats.
TESLA
Initiative

NUSHS Pioneers and Innovators
- The programme aims to nurture maker mindsets imbued with pioneering spirit in our students, developing their readiness and capabilities to become future Engineering and Innovation Leaders.

- Basic skill sets in the areas of Design & Engineering, Computing and interdisciplinary fields will be taught explicitly via structured programmes (modules and workshops)

- Shared learning should be beyond the school campus. This could mean learning journeys, workshops, job-shadowing and short-term immersions.

Voyager
Programme

NUSHS Internationalisation Programme
- Embraces the world as the classroom as our students learn from overseas experiences.

- The programme aims to help students develop a global outlook and the ability to operate within multi-national settings

- Students learn with the best as they go for Student Exchange Programmes with our partner schools, as well as international Science Fairs and Service Learning Trips.

- Students learn from the best as they take part in conferences and various academic field trips.

Programme

NUSHS English Language and Humanities
- The goal of the programme is to nurture students who excel in the disciplines of the Humanities, English Language and Literature.

- Students are invited to sign up for activities organised by the Gifted Education Branch of MOE, such as the Creative Writing programme, Moot Parliament Programme and the Humanities & Social Science Programme.

- Students can also join the Humanities Interest Group, English Interest Group, or Current Affairs Interest Group.

Aesthetic Appreciation
Programme
- School-wide programme with structured experiencial activities for all 6 years of students.

- The aim is to develop students’ aesthetic sensitivity and awareness, as well as broaden and refine students’ repertoire of expressive abilities.

- A primary goal is to to channel our students’ passion in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), towards collaborations and solutions for the betterment of the world.

Boarding Programme
- The Year 5 Boarding Programme is a platform to develop character and promote bonding among students over a full year of boarding.

- The programme aims to help students acquire life-skills, cultivate friendships, develop leadership capacity and grow intellectual curiosity.

- The special features introduced to support the programme are enrichment activities, extended time & space for research, academic coaching, extended leadership opportunities and student initiated activities.

Subject Interest Groups (SIGs)

SIGs are a unique feature of NUS High. A ground-up initiative from the students, these groups pull together like minded students passionate in their respective fields. SIGs are vibrant communities that incubate and birth new ideas, experiments and projects beyond the formal curriculum. Supported by the staff in our academic departments, the SIGs help to promote wonderment in their disciplines not just within the school’s community, they also are an invaluable help with the school’s outreach to the external community.
