NUS High School Students Nail Down Top Awards at the Singapore International Science Challenge (SISC) 2015

SISC is a biennial international event which has been conceptualized by National Junior College since 2007. This event brings together gifted Science students between 15 and 18 years old from around the world to compete, collaborate and innovate in Science. The multi-disciplinary focus of the challenge provides an authentic backdrop for students to integrate and apply scientific knowledge to solve real life global problems and produce innovation.

This year, the theme of the competition was “Excite! Energise! Electrify!”, and it was held from 29th June – 3rd July 2015. The competition involved three components: poster presentation of research projects, a creative challenge, as well as a design & build challenge.

Our school was represented by the following three students:
    1.       Keefe Wayne Teo Zhi Yuan (Year 6)
    2.       Girish Kumar (Year 6)
    3.       Ng Jian Rong (Year 5)  

These students did the school proud by winning the following awards:
    1.       Best Scientist – Girish Kumar
    2.       Best Poster – Girish Kumar
    3.       Best Presentation Award – Keefe Wayne Teo Zhi Yuan
    4.       Design and Build (Grand Champion) Award – Girish Kumar
    5.       Design and Build Best Design Award – Girish Kumar
    6.       First Prize in Category (Chemistry) – Keefe Wayne Teo Zhi Yuan
    7.       First Prize in Category (Computer Science & Math) – Girish Kumar
    8.       Creative Challenge (Distinction) Award – Keefe Wayne Teo Zhi Yuan
    9.       Creative Challenge (Merit) Award – Girish Kumar
