The 3rd Yokohama Science Frontier Forum for International Research in Science and Technology, 2013 (Japan)

On November 19th, 3 teams from NUS High School participated in the 3rd Yokohama Science Frontier Forum for International Research in Science and Technology 2013 held at Yokohama Science Frontier High School in Japan.

One of our school teams consisting of Lim Ji Ho (h1010193; M13405), Chu Yao Quan (h1010181; M13405) and Keefe Wayne Teo Zhi Yuan (h1230010; M13405) has managed to receive the best poster award out of 150 teams. The title of the research project was (Ni1-xZnx) Fe2O4 spinel oxides as high performance anode materials for Li-ion batteries. It was supervised by Dr.Reddy, Prof Chowdari, Prof Loh from NUS and Dr Teh Yun Ling.

This 3rd Yokohama Science Frontier Forum for International Research in Science and Technology 2013 was under the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Yokohama City Board of Education. This forum provided good opportunities to foster students’ interests in science. It brought science students together from around the worlds and to share their results of research in sciences.

Students from high schools in Japan, and abroad gave poster and oral presentations on original research projects carried out at school. Judges included Sir Harold Kroto, the Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1996, professors and teachers from various research institutions and universities.
