NUS College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT)’s Student Poetry Prize 2013

Lim Yi Herh Ansel of M13608 has just been named the 1st PRIZE WINNER of NUS College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT)’s Student Poetry Prize 2013 for his portfolio entitled “Curtains to the Soul: Bhudyate.” Ansel competed with NUS undergraduates, including poetry workshop participants in the CAPT.  

The CAPT is also working towards a publication of College art works at the end of this academic year. It plans to include Ansel’s submissions in that publication.

The CAPT Poetry Prize recognises and encourages literary talent in NUS. The College places particular emphasis on nurturing students’ critical thinking and effective writing skills.

Inter-School National Scrabble Championship 2013

Prithvi Raj of M13204 won Third Place in the bowl category and Lim Yun Wei Shermane of M13105 won Third Place in the plate category of the 2013 Inter-School National Scrabble Championship (ISNSC). ISNC is the island’s premier Scrabble event with participation by RI, HCI, NGHS, RGS and other independent schools. They and other NUS High students competed in Luck-of-Draw pairings in several rounds. Winners of each round played against other winners until the final round.  

SUPER Zone Schools Scrabble (SZSS) Competition

Teams representing the school at the SUPER Zone Schools Scrabble (SZSS) Competition also excelled. The team comprising Chan Wayde of M13206, Matthias Liau Yi Quan of M13205 and Lim Yun Wei Shermane of M13105 placed 2nd and the team of Mayank Goel of M13206, Ernest Teo of M13206 and Prithvi Raj of M13204 placed 3rd. SZSS is an annual competition organised by The Scrabble Association Ritsa. Its purpose is to gather secondary students from different zones across Singapore to enjoy competitive Scrabble.
