NUS High School takes gold in Asian Pacific Mathematical Olympiad (APMO) 2012

On 13 March 2012, a group of students represented Singapore in the APMO 2012. This is a tough 4-hour competition where participants compete to solve 5 questions of varying difficulty.

Benchmarked against the best nations in the Asia-Pacific region, our NUS High School students perform remarkably, claiming 4 out of the 7 medals awarded to Singapore. This was a better performance compared to last year.

Ang Yan Sheng (M12609) was awarded the gold medal while Lim Jeck (M12506) attained a silver medal. In addition, both Ling Yan Hao (M12406) and Yap Jit Wu (M12507) got bronze medals.

This is the second consecutive year that NUS High attained Gold in the APMO. Only 1 gold medal is awarded to each country.

Among the medallists, Yan Sheng, Lim Jeck and Yan Hao have also qualified to represent Singapore in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2012, held in Argentina. We have high hopes for the trio and wish them all the best in the upcoming IMO.
