National Junior Solar Sprint Competition (NJSSC) 2012

The National Junior Solar Sprint Competition (NJSSC) 2012 took place on 7 June 2012.

The National Junior Solar Sprint Competition (NJSSC) is a race competition of mini-solar cars designed and assembled by secondary school students using their ingenuity, innovativeness and creativity. Participants are encouraged to use the principles of mathematics and science in this fun, hands-on educational activity.
On 7 June 2012, about 130 sec school students and teachers from 31 secondary schools took part in the National Junior Solar Sprint Competition, held at the SP Plaza. The theme for the race was “Green Mobility – On the Move”, involving a mini-car race over a 25.5m long track. In teams of three, participants had to design and build miniature solar-powered cars from recyclable materials while applying Science, Mathematics and Engineering principles into the design of the cars.
