Achievements by Astronomy Club 2011
The astronomy club takes part in three major competitions every year: The NYP astronomy competition at Nanyang Polytechnic, the Astrigue competition jointly hosted by Hwa Chong and RI, and the NUS-NTU Astro challenge.
NYP Astronomy competition at Nanyang Polytechnic
Four finalists, winning merit prize: Soon Wei Jun (M11407), Clarence Cheong (M11402), Stanley Quek (M11405), Eric Lim (M11407)
Astrigue Competition
The competition comprises an individual round, a group data response round, an amazing-race type round, and a project round. This year, the project, inspired by Hollywood, was “Using a shrink ray on an object in the solar system for evil and profit”, which we won by shrinking Jupiter and using it to bombard the moon with a shattered asteroid.

NUS-NTU astro challenge
The competition comprises an individual round, a group data response round, a practical round, and a project round. This year, the project was to create a starmap that can be used for educational purposes, which we won best place for, as well as placing third and first in the junior and senior categories, respectively.
