GLOBAL FINALISTS AT GOOGLE SCIENCE FAIR 2016

A brilliant confection of love for science and the environment saw a trio develop a simple technology with the potential to make a big impact in the world of supercapacitors. Their research project made it to the finals of the Google Science Fair (GSF).  The trio - Joy Ang, Sonia Arumuganainar and Marion Pang – were overjoyed to be the only Singapore team to have made it to the finals this year.

Although work on the project devoured the bulk of their waking hours, the trio relished the experience. Sonia says, “Our journey began when the school encouraged us to join the Science Mentorship Programme! It was there we met our DSO mentors who guided us through the scientific process and helped us develop our project to what it is today. Dr Chiam has been a great help in liaising with our external mentors and guiding us through the many competitions we took part in. Even the deputy principal, Mr Goh, took time to give us his invaluable feedback. We are so lucky to have NUS High backing us the entire way!”
