EDUSAVE Awards

 

If a pupil is a Singapore citizen, he/she can benefit from Edusave in the following ways: 


1. Edusave (Independent Schools) Yearly Awards (EISYA)

Ministry of Education offers the Edusave (Independent Schools) Yearly Awards (EISYA) to pupils in Independent Schools who are Singapore Citizens and NOT EESIS or ESIP holders. These awards are to encourage and reward pupils who have excelled academically as well as obtained a good grade for conduct in that year. 

 All pupils are considered for EISYA, and there is no application needed. Pupils awarded the EISYA will be informed through their schools by the beginning of the next academic year.

Eligibility
- Award is given to the top 5% of each cohort by level in each Independent School based on their school examination results at the end of the year.

Award Quantum
The E(IS)YA award quantum for pupils admitted into S1 from 2008 onwards is $2,400, or the annual school fees charged by the IS less the annual amount of school and standard miscellaneous fees paid by pupils in government / government-aided schools, whichever is lower.


 2. Edusave Merit Bursary (EMB)

The Edusave Merit Bursary is meant for pupils whose gross household income is less than $5,000 a month, or per capita income less than $1,250. If a pupil is not a recipient of any Edusave Scholarship and is within the top 25% of his/her level, he/she will be eligible for the EMB.

The value of this award for each level is as follows:

  • $350 for Year 1 to 4 
  • $400 for Year 5 to 6

The selection of students for these awards is done by the school yearly, based on their current year results. No application is needed.


3. Good Progress Award (GPA)

If a pupil has made significant improvement in his/her academic performance, he/she is eligible for the Good Progress Award. The pupil must not be a holder of any Edusave Scholarship or Edusave Merit Bursary. The award is given based on the extent of the pupil's improvement in the school’s year-end examinations over the previous year.

The awards are given to a maximum of 10% of pupils in each level in the school. Pupils will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year if he/she meets the criteria. No application is needed.

 The value of the awards is as follows:

  • $200 for Year 1 to 4 
  • $250 for Year 5 to 6

 

4. Edusave Awards for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES)

If a pupil shows good leadership, service to community and schools, or excels in non-academic activities, he/she is eligible for the Edusave Award for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service. The award is given based on his/her achievement in co-curricular activities and contribution to community services over a one-year period.

The awards are given to a maximum of 10% of pupils in each level in the school. The pupil will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year, if he/she meets the criteria. No application is needed.

 The value of the awards is as follows:

  • $350 for Year 1 to 4
  • $400 for Year 5 to 6


5. Edusave Character Awards (ECHA)

The Edusave Character Award is given out to recognize pupils for demonstrating exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behavior and actions. The pupil will be selected by the school for this award at the end of the year if he/she meets the criteria. The awards are given to 2% of Singaporean pupils in the school.

The value of the award is as follows:

  • $500 for Year 1 to 6
