The National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOis an annual national competition organized by the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science since 2006. This competition, which is open to Primary Five students in all primary schools in Singapore involves two rounds: the Preliminary Round and the Special Round. It has raised interest and enthusiasm in mathematics and is now an event that our primary schools and their students look forward to participate in.

 NMO aims to
  • Identify Singapore's Mathematics representatives for the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO)
  • Generate greater interest in Mathematics among Primary school students
  • Cultivate enthusiasm and instil a love for Mathematics
  • Provide an avenue to challenge and stretch our students’ mathematical potential
  • Nurture mathematical talents in our youths

An award ceremony will take place on 30th August 2014, Saturday.

For the 4th consecutive years, NUS High School will assume the Lead Agency’s role, tasked with the selection and training of IMSO 2014 National Team. We are also glad to share that the Singapore Math team won 3 Gold and 3 Silver, the best overall and best in theory in the 10th IMSO (IMSO 2013).  This is the best performance by Singapore so far.

The top 20 individual winners of NMOwill be shortlisted to join the training squad for IMSO 2014. Within the training squad, a final team of 6 students and 2 reserves will be selected to form the Mathematics team for IMSO 2014.
