Highlights of the Physics Programme:

Students will have the opportunity to attend a special module in Aerodynamics taught by DSO National Laboratories researchers at NUS High under the DSTA World of Science lecture series, together with students from other Junior Colleges and independent schools. This module will begin with an introduction to the concepts of fluid dynamics and its applications to flight. Students will also get a chance to visit DSO laboratories and other aerospace facilities and undertake project work as part of the module requirement

We are one of the few institutions in Singapore equipped with a state-of-the-art observatory. Students will have the opportunity to handle a 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with star tracking and navigation system. Sitting atop the NUSHS hostel blocks, the NUSHS Observatory provides avid stargazers with invaluable hands-on experience.

Overseas Astronomy Trip to University of Western Australia (UWA) from 7 – 13 Dec 2008. Students were given the opportunity to interact with UWA professors & graduate students and undertook some projects while they were there. They also visited Gravity Discovery Centre, Radio Jove, UWA’s Observatory for star-gazing. In the teachers’ program, University of Western Australia also conducted a sharing on the education research projects, and how to engage students in learning.
